Zac Efron, together with his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, arrived in Australia last weekend to help promote Oakley’s learn-to-surf charity event. The event, which also featured the professional surfer Layne Beachley, was held in Sydney’s Bondi Beach.
Hundreds of fans gathered across the streets waiting for Efron to arrive with their notepads and cameras clutched in their hands. When the actor finally arrived, hundreds of girls squealing “I love you!” swarmed to him as Efron headed towards North Bondi RSL club to change into an Oakley wetsuit.
The 22-year-old Efron once spoke about his love for surfing. Two years ago, he said that he surfs any chance he gets, and that someday he hopes to surf with Kelly Slater at Bells Beach in Victoria, Australia. However, during the event, Efron seemed to have gotten overwhelmed with the attention he got from the fans; the actor declined to show off his surfing skills and preferred to just stride the water, teaching the handpicked surfing students and helping them get onto their boards. Most of the crowd who came to see Efron showcase his surfing prowess was left disappointed. Nevertheless, the actor compensated his lack of participation in surfing by posing handsomely in photo opportunities. Meanwhile, Vanessa Hudgens kept a low profile during the event, staying at an Italian restaurant in North Bondi.
Efron and Hudgens had to spend their Valentine’s Day in Harbour City. During their stay, the couple was spotted eating at McDonald’s in Circular Quay and shopping for Oakley sunglasses at the local Oakley store.
