2010 will see be an interesting year for sunglasses enthusiasts as Ray-Ban puts a refreshing twist on the Wayfarer designs. Following up on the success of the relaunch of their classic designs, Ray-Ban decided to give its classic Wayfarer designs a makeover.
The Wayfarer is designed with flowers, stripes, and subway maps. With the floral designs, blooms and pastels are painted on the Wayfarer giving it a refreshing feminine appeal. Meanwhile, for those who are searching for more something more unisex, the stripes designs are also available together with a printed map of a New York subway in the interior.
It was 1952 when the first batch of Wayfarers came into the market. Back at that time, the Wayfarer was a revolutionary model because its frames were made of plastic instead of metal.
More celebrities began to wear the classic Wayfarer frames in the late 2000. As a result, the vintage sunglasses began to sell at very high prices on eBay. Ray-Ban took notice of this, and on 2007, the brand re-introduced the classic Wayfarer design in order to meet the demand. Ray-Ban’s revenue immediately grew by 231 percent that year.
