As with any other major sporting event, Oakley made sure that the brand’s presence was felt by giving away a large number of freebies filled with Oakley merchandise for the brand’s fans and sponsoring Oakley sunglasses for the athletes to wear. Supporting major events has always been Oakley’s way of developing its relationship with its fans and athletes.
Oakley was also present at the 2010 Winter X Games. The event, recognized by many as the second largest winter sporting event of the year, that is, with the Winter Olympics being the first, was held at Aspen, Colorado. Many exciting winter sports were hosted by the Winter X Games, such as skiing and snowboarding, with over 200 athletes from all over the world competing at the slopes of Aspen – 12 of those athletes were members of the Oakley Sunglasses’ team.
Oakley’s ideas in product design and engineering have long been labeled by many as “mad science,” but as long athletes like Shaun White and Lance Armstrong continue to wear their sunglasses, then we are confident to announce that the brand’s ideas are working for the best – no matter how “mad” they may be.
